Application Procedure
The Valentine Foundation makes grants once
a year in November. The application process has been revised
as follows:
Applicants need to submit a two page letter, between
May 1 and June 30,
which includes the following:
- a description of the organization,
program or project for which you are requesting funding;
- the specific Social Change Indicator(s) which your proposal
addresses, and how your organization or proposed program
or project will address the Indicator(s). (See “Guidelines
and Priorities”); view
to the Social Change Indicators Matrix
- whether you are requesting one year or multi-year funding;
- your organization’s mission;
- the year you were founded;
- the overall budget of your organization; and
- your organization’s
major funding sources.
Completion of the Applicant
Constituency Information form
The letter
and the Applicant Constituency Information Form are due in
the Foundation office between
May 1 and June 30. From June
to August the Trustees review all of the letters; each Trustee
selects a few specific proposals which conform to our guidelines
and which she wishes to champion for possible funding. In this
same time period the Trustee will contact the organizations
she has selected to gather any additional information needed
to support the request, clarify any issues and possibly schedule
a site visit.
In September the Trustees convene for a two-day meeting to
discuss each of the proposals identified for possible funding.
The organizations that are selected at this stage of the
process will be contacted by a Trustee, given feedback about
the request and invited to submit a full proposal in early
October. The Trustees meet again in November to review the
detailed proposals and make the final grant allocations.
The grant packets and checks are mailed by the end of November.
All materials should be sent to:
Alexandra V. A. Frazier, Director

Note: When mailing the letter, please do not request a signature
from Valentine
signifying receipt of the package. This will only delay its
processing. |
